The TightGate-Viewer is available free of charge for download for current Debian-based distributions in the support section of the m-privacy website GmbH.

The packages provided only install the TightGate-Viewer. The programmes required for sound transmission must be installed separately, as they vary by distribution. All packages for the Pulseaudio programme are required; no further configuration is necessary.

configuration

TightGate-Vieweris set up on Linux in the same way as on Windows. The only difference is that the configuration files are located in different places within the file system. A system-wide configuration file can be found at /etc/tgpro.cfg , whilst the user-specific files are located at ~/.vnc/tgpro.vnc.

Achtung

If you are running the TightGate-Viewer on Linux, you should ensure that the following line is present in the file /etc/pulse/client.conf on the workstation where the TightGate-Viewer is running:

extra-arguments = –disallow-module-loading

Configuring the viewer for login with username and password
As on Windows, before starting the programme for the first time, the following two lines can be added to either the system-wide or the user-specific configuration file: ServerName=<IP-Adresse> and, for example, SecurityTypes=TLSPlain (for password login without verifying the server certificate).

Once this has been done, simply run the programme via

tightgateviewer

to establish a connection to the TightGate server.

If neither of these files exists yet, there is no need to create them manually using a text editor. Instead, the first time the programme is launched via

tightgateviewer <Auflösbarer DNS-Name von TightGate-Pro>

will establish a connection using the login details. Once the name ‘ TightGate-Pro ’ has been entered for the first time, TightGate-Viewer automatically creates a subdirectory .vnc in the home directory of the logged-in user and generates a configuration file tgpro.vnc containing the server’s IPv4 address. From then on, to connect to the same server, simply enter

tightgateviewer

to be taken straight to the login dialogue. Alternatively, the TightGate-Viewer can also be launched via the Start menu.

Configuring the viewer for certificate-based single sign-on
For certificate-based single sign-on to the TightGate-Pro server, you must ensure that, in the user-specific configuration file or (if this is not available) in the system-wide configuration file, behind the entry SecurityTypes= the value X509Cert is specified. It is also necessary for the relevant certificates to be stored on the workstation PC for each user in their directory ~/.vnc .
