From TightGate-Viewer, you have the option of printing documents and websites directly to locally available workstation printers or to a PDF file. The printer connection is generally configured by the system administrator, so that you as the user only need to select a suitable printer. Only setting options that are accessible to the user are described below. If in doubt, please use the reporting channels mentioned in the introduction.
If you initiate a printout from an application, the programme-specific print dialogue appears. You can now specify whether the printout is to be made to a printer (Print with LPR) or to a PDF document (Print to file).
If you do not require a printout in paper form from the browser or an auxiliary programme, but would like to create a PDF document, please select the menu item Print to file. If you confirm the selection, a file named print.pdf will always be created in your transfer directory. You can open the file created in this way with the integrated PDF viewer.
If the print to local workstation printer function is activated, the TightGate-Viewer transfers all print jobs with the selection Print with LPR to the local workstation computer. After a short time, a print dialogue opens on this computer, which offers all printers and print options for the workstation.
In some networks, the print dialogue, which is called up by TightGate-Viewer, has been redirected by the administration. This does not open the normal print dialogue, but the PDF viewer Adobe Reader, which is used for printing.
